PROPHET MUHAMMAD'S (PBUH) WISDOM BRINGS TO LIGHT NON VIOLENCE AS THE BEST WAY, SAYS SRI LANKAN PRESIDENT

COLOMBO, March 10 (NNN-GOVT PORTAL) -- “This year we celebrate Milad-un Nabi after establishing democracy in the East, and liberating the North is in the offing. This underlines the fact that Islamic followers living in the East and North have something to be more hopeful in their celebrations,” President Mahinda Rajapaksa said in a message on Prophet Muhammad’s birthday. President in his message among others said:It’s with pleasure that I extend my warmest greetings to muslims, as they celebrate Milad-un Nabi or Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday together with their brethren all over the world.Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) wisdom laid emphasize on peace and harmony, built significant religious and cultural traditions, and fostered developments in education, science and research. And, muslims focus on Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) wisdom on this holy day.Islam endeavors to guide the humanity to the correct path of brotherhood, mutual understanding, corporation and tolerance. And, Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) wisdom highlights non violence as the best way towards peace denouncing terrorism and violence that threaten civilized societies.Milad-un Nabi is celebrated as a national festival in Sri Lanka, and taking this national importance into consideration, the government made all arrangements to celebrate Milad-un Nabi in Matara with due attention to religious and cultural activities inherent with the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) birthday.We celebrate Milad-un Nabi after establishing democracy in the Eastern province, and liberating the North is in the offing. This underlines the fact that the Muslim community living in the East and North are more zealous and passionate in their celebrations.
